Jacob Paul Murphy

A Trial Lawyer With A Reputation For Positive Results

Protecting the Law for over 35 Years

Jacob Murphy grew up in a small fishing town in South East Alaska. After graduating from law school in San Antonio, Texas, he moved back to where he considered home, the Pacific Northwest, to practice criminal law.

While in law school Jacob was a member of the criminal law clinic where he provided free representation to indigent clients charged with misdemeanor matters. This entailed voluminous motions practice as well as trial preparation and case negotiation.

Shortly after becoming licensed at the end of 2000, he began to work as an extra hire attorney with the Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel. While there over the course of about a year Jacob argued at fact findings, prepared and argued motions to suppress and/or dismiss as well as conducted numerous trials for clients with misdemeanor offenses.

Jacob Murphy obtained his first full time criminal defense attorney position with the Crawford Law firm in Port Orchard in 2001. He started with a misdemeanor case load, but was swiftly moved to felonies in under two years. Once again he was filing and arguing numerous motions and trials. He has represented clients on felonies from simple possession of narcotics or property offenses to sexual assault, third strike and murder charges.

He has also been defense counsel for the Kitsap County Adult Drug Court four over a decade providing extensive experience with therapeutic courts.

Jacob is also a defense counsel for the recently established Veteran’s Treatment Court where along with providing representation of clients he was part of the founding team that received funding to formulate the Court.

When not in Court Jacob enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, bird watching, and most other outdoor activities with his wife, son and pet rescue dog. He is passionate about helping abandoned or lost animals, adopting whenever he can and often donating to different state wide rescue agencies.
